Steve’s career has included stints with the global accounting and consulting firms of Deloitte, Haskins and Sells (Houston, Texas) and Coopers & Lybrand (Washington D.C.). He worked as a manager in the audit and consulting divisions, serving an array of clients with an emphasis on nonprofit organizations including The Smithsonian Institution, American Diabetes Association, National Gallery of Art, and National Wildlife Federation. For the past 22 years, Steve served as both Chief Financial and Chief Operations Officer at The Nature Conservancy where he authored the last two five-year strategic financial plans and led a complete overhaul of the organization’s information systems and business processes. In his tenure at the Conservancy, the organization tripled in size, expanded to a presence in over 70 countries, and created over 40 new related entities. Steve graduated from the University of Texas with a BBA in Accounting; is a licensed CPA with a Chartered Global Management Accountant designation; and is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the Virginia Society of CPAs. He currently serves on the board of the Human Resources Research Organization and as a member of the Investment and Audit Subcommittees at the American Psychological Association.
